Obituary for Jules Murray

Dateline: Malta, NY
Jules Murray, former long-time Wynantskill, NY resident, age 88, died on November 1, 2015 surrounded by his dearest family members. He was born on February 7, 1927 in Antwerp, NY and was the son of the late Joseph and Angeline (Brouty) Murray. Jules proudly served with the US Army as a combat engineer during World War II and the Korean War. He earned his Associates Degree in electrical technology at HVCC, in one of their first graduating classes. During his long career, Jules worked as an industrial electrician, first at the Williams Press in Menands, NY and then at the Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, NY where he worked until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, he worked part-time for many years as the maintenance supervisor at Kingsley Manor Plaza in Burnt Hills, NY. Jules was a very active member of St. Jude’s Church in Wynantskill, where he gave his time and skills to the church. Jules was a natural leader, serving in several leadership roles, such as president of his local union while at Williams Press and president and member of the board of the Williams Press Credit Union. Jules also served on the board of the Watervliet Arsenal Credit Union which was later incorporated into Sunmark FCU. At home, Jules was a loving family man who generously gave his time to his son and two grandchildren who will remember him with the fondest of memories. Jules was an avid skier who enjoyed downhill skiing in the Adirondacks with his family well into his seventies, and many years of waterskiing at Saratoga Lake and Lake Ontario.
Jules was the beloved husband of the late Lois (Young) Murray; loving father of Dennis P. Murray of Malta, NY; adoring grandfather of Sarah Murray and Philippe Beaucage of Albany, NY and great grandfather of their daughter Juliette; cherished grandfather of Craig and Erin Murray of Ballston Spa, NY and great grandfather of their son Carson; and caring brother of Mary Katherine (Murray) Williams of Syracuse, NY, Dennis Murray of Pheonix, AZ, Bernard Murray of Waterford, CT, and the late Raymond, James, Delbert, Patrick and Michael Murray and Betty (Murray) Hyde – all from Watertown, NY.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 10am-11am at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at11 AM at the funeral home immediately following calling hours.
Interment with military honors will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
