Obituary for Beverly June Canfield (Gratton)

Beverly June Canfield, age 89, died on November 21st at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home. She was born on March 23, 1926 in Troy, NY and was the daughter of the late Edwin Gratton and Theresa (Olmstead) Gratton Becker. Beverly was a graduate of Draper High School, class of 1943. She had lived in Glenville, NY most of her life and was formerly of Bellevue, NY. She worked at Schenectady Savings Bank and earlier while in High School she worked at her Aunt’s hat shop on Jay Street. As a youth she enjoyed roller skating with “the gang” and tap dancing. Beverly was an active member of her community serving as homeroom mother, PTA member and Girl Scout leader. She was a member of 1st Reformed Church of Scotia and participated in their Circle Joanna as well as coordinating the dining room for their yearly Dutch Fair turkey dinner. She was also a member of the Chapter AN of PEO and enjoyed reading newspapers and magazines. Beverly enjoyed extensive travel within the United States as well as abroad
to England, Scotland, Wales, Norway and Austria.


She was the beloved wife of the late James Benjamin Canfield; loving mother of Caryn (Fiancé Brian Bouck) Canfield; sister of Edwin Gratton and Gretta Pickney, both of Florida. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews and grand- nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 23rd from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019 .

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 24th at 1:00 PM at the 1st Reformed Church of Scotia 224 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.


Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Scotia, NY.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
