Obituary for David M. Green

Dateline: Charlton, NY
David M. Green, age 69, of Charlton Road entered the home of the angels on Friday, March 11, 2016. He was born on October 22, 1946 in Niskayuna, NY and was the son of the late Erwin P. and Anna M. (Smiley) Green. David was a graduate of Burnt Hills – Ballston Lake High School, class of 1966. He was a US Marine and served as a combat engineer on a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1967-1968. He was honorably discharged on July 6, 1972. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Viet Nam Service Medal with one star, the Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge. He worked for Knolls Atomic Power Lab in Niskayuna, NY as a mechanic/ heavy equipment operator. David was a well known and loved resident of Charlton. A true outdoorsman and adventure seeker, he found happiness while hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. He raced motorcycles and in 1970 was named Eastern States Sports Committee Champion. His home always had an open door for family and friends and there was always a meal on for all to share. Dave’s unique sense of humor was beyond compare. He adored his sons and grandsons.
He was the husband of 45 years to Lynda L. (Jackson) Green; father of Ethan Green, Ehren (Sabrina) Green and the late Erich Green; grandfather of Travis and Mason Green; brother of John and Keith Green; son-in-law of Victor and Idean Jackson; brother-in-law of Vicki (Gary) Encleking, Debbie (Kerry) Falcon and Gregory (Paula) Jackson. David is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Interment with military honors will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY. Please arrive at the entrance at 2:50 PM and line up on the right.

All are welcome to join the family at Ehren and Sabrina’s home following the service – 409 Sager Road, Amsterdam, NY 12019.
