Obituary for Robert E. "Bob, Shack" Adams

Dateline – Scotia, NY
Robert (Bob, Shack) E. Adams of Glenview Drive, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017
surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Boothbay Harbor, Maine on June 1, 1932 and was the son of
the late Arthur M. and Madeline (Harrington) Adams.
After serving in the US Army, Robert spent most of his adult life in the Capital District where he had a
fulfilling career as a Technical Consultant with the Albany branch of AT&T. After retirement, he and his
beloved wife Frances were Florida Snowbirds for over twenty years. There they enjoyed their friends in the
warm sunshine.
In his free time, Robert had several interests and hobbies. He was a skilled handyman and carpenter as well
as a natural mechanic. He helped make The Adams Shack by using his handyman skills sprucing the place up
as it reminded him of Maine. He spent half of his life rebuilding Corvairs to sell, collect or give to his
children.
Bop (his granchildren’s name for him) loved family time enjoying many weekends up at The Adams Shack
puttering around or just relaxing by the fire. Christmas, in particular, was his favorite. He enjoyed hosting the
grandkids Christmas Party many years ago where traditions were celebrated and decorations were made by
hand. He also loved cooking “Skinnys” for his family. They were a family delicacy enjoyed by his children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Robert was a proud friend of Bill’s for over 34 years. He touched many people's lives in the program and
made great lifetime friends through AA.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Frances; adoring children Robert E. (Antoinette) Adams, Jr., Wayne P.
Adams and Lori J. (Jim Vinciquerra) Hughes; beloved grandchildren Danielle Adams (Chris), Lisa (Greg)
Filipone, Madeline (Chris) Martucci, Joanna (Anthony) Valzone, Sean (Melody) Ranagan, Stacey Ranagan,
Kaylin Ranagan and Keri Ranagan; loving great-grandchildren, Celia, Harleigh, Stellina, Dominick and Mark,
