Obituary for Joseph A Lynch Jr.

Dateline – Halfmoon, NY

Joseph A. Lynch, Jr., age 66, of Sheldon Drive, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. He was born on August 2, 1951 in Troy, NY and was the son of the late Joseph A. Lynch, Sr. and Angeline Picarillo Lynch. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a sister, Elizabeth Lynch; four sons, Christopher (Ellen), Kieran (Tina), Patrick and Daniel (Nancy Fieg); four grandchildren, Aaron, Marcus, Zeke and Crosby.

Joe worked for the United States Postal Service for many years until his retirement as Post Master in Ballston Spa. He was a loving husband and proud father. Joe’s happiest times were when he was on the sideline of a baseball field, lacrosse field or hockey rink, coaching and supporting his boys. Joe's commitment and dedication were exemplified by his involvement with Clifton Park Youth Hockey. He played an integral role in developing the program from its inception. He took pride in serving as the Booster Club President of the Shenendehowa Varsity Hockey team for over 10 years. He volunteered his time raising funds, putting together the team program and setting up travel logistics. Joe's involvement with his boys, their peers and in the hockey community was done selflessly and with honor. Winter was for hockey, but come August, it was all about Saratoga and the races. You could always expect to see Joe, sitting in his chair, picking the ponies - and you never knew if he won or lost. Besides the ponies, Joe loved his dogs. It never seemed to fail that as one of the boys grew up and moved out, Joe came home with a dog, and when Joe couldn't bring a dog home, he would look online and dream of which one he could rescue next. Most recently, Joe could be found traveling to his home in Florida, going to see a play in New York or to watch the New York Rangers, but most of all, he loved to visit every good restaurant around town. Joe could never pass up a good buffet and for that, he will always be loved and forever missed.
