William Latimer, III

William W. Latimer, III died peacefully at his home in Ballston Lake on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the age of 87. He was born on February 12, 1931 in Poughkeepsie, NY and was the son of the late William W. and Dorothy Marie (Nassar) Latimer.
Bill is survived by his wife, Arlene Latimer (Jackson); 5 children: Kimberly (Thomas) Latimer-Nelligan of Ossining, NY; William W. (Maria Khan) Latimer IV of New Rochelle, NY; Brian (Caroline) Latimer of Schenectady, NY; Wendi Latimer of Scotia, NY; and Christopher (Joel) McCarthy-Latimer of Littleton, MA; and 8 grandchildren: Liam Nelligan, Erin Nelligan, Matthew Nelligan, Anne Latimer, Brynn Latimer, Ava Latimer, Dorothy Latimer, and Aidan McCarthy-Latimer. He is also survived by his brother George Latimer of St. Paul MN and one sister-in-law Eileen (Phillip) Latimer of Schenectady, NY.
Bill was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady, New York. He graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in May 1952. He enlisted and honorably served in the US Army from 1953-1955. He attended the University of Miami where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1957. In 1959, Bill graduated from New York University with a Masters in Business Administration. He retired after a long and rewarding career from Highgate Manor in Troy as chief financial advisor.
Bill was an exceptional pinochle player, sprinter, and financial advisor. He was also an avid fan of all New York pro sports teams excluding hockey but including the Knicks, despite their abysmal performance. Last year at the Saratoga Raceway he picked the winner of every race but one.
Bill and Arlene honeymooned on Cape Cod. They fell in love with the beauty of Cape Cod. Their love for Cape Cod spread to all five of their children, their spouses and grandchildren. The entire family gathers at the Cape throughout the year. Bill and his daughter Wendi were the beach paddle ball champions.
He lovingly cared for numerous dogs and one cat rescued by Alex the Russian, including Cindy, Crosby, JR, Bear, Boris the Russian tortoise, Brambles, Blue, Katy, Gigi, and especially Sadie.
Bill will be remembered as a trusted adviser, friend, and loving husband and father.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jerome Gingras, Pastor, on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Church of the Immaculate Conception,400 Saratoga Rd, Scotia, N.Y. 12302.
Interment with full military honors will be on Monday at 12:30 p.m. in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
