Obituary for Beulah Hodgson

Beulah Mary Hodgson, 95, died on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at The Wesley Health Care Center.
She was born on February 15, 1923 in Quaker Springs, NY and was the daughter of the late Percy Dodd and Harriet (Dodd) Bentley. Her stepfather was the late Edson Bentley. Beulah attended Quaker Springs one room schoolhouse through grade 8. She finished her education at Mechanicville High School, graduating in 1939. Beulah continued her education at the Eastman-Saratoga School of Business, graduating in 1940.
Following graduation Beulah worked at Mount McGregor until 1959. She then worked for General Electric until she retired in 1987. Beulah was a member of the Quaker Springs Methodist Church during her childhood. As an adult she was an active member of the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church. She sang in the choir, worked on dinners and counted money. Beulah got great satisfaction working in the book room at the Lord’s Acre Fair.
Beulah loved to dance. She loved to dress up and go to dances at least once a week. Big Band music was her favorite and jitter bug was the dance of choice. Beulah enjoyed gardening, spring cleaning and butterflies. Beulah was predeceased by her sister, Hazel Flatley.
She is survived by her sons Craig (Maureen) Hodgson, Thomas (Susan) Hodgson; grandchildren Gillian Hodgson, Caitlin (Chad) Kane, Jeffrey (Kami) Hodgson, Jennifer (Derek) Van Wely; great grandchildren Miles Esmann, Jovie Kane, Jonah and Brooke Hodgson, Duncan and Lucas Van Wely and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 am at Burnt Hills United Methodist Church, 816 NY Route 50, Burnt Hills, NY 12127.
As Beulah wished, she has donated her body to Albany Medical College Anatomical Gift Donation Project and her interment will be held at a later date in Eastline Union Cemetery, Round Lake, NY.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to either Wesley Health Care Center or the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church.
