Ronald K. Wharton, Sr., age 85 of Wall Street, died on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia. He was born on November 5, 1932 in Amsterdam, NY and was the son of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Kalk) Wharton. Ron was a graduate of Wilbur Lynch High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Empire State College. He proudly served with the US Navy during the Korean War and received the navy Korean War medals for his service. Throughout the years, Ron was a member of several local Veteran’s organizations, most recently the Clifton Park VFW Post #1498. Ron had a 35 year long and fulfilling career as an electrical engineer /technical metallurgist at the Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, NY. He was an intelligent and kind man with a humor that could not hide from the little devil inside. He loved to keep his hands and mind busy and could often be found tinkering in the yard or fixing something in need of repair. Ron enjoyed the entertainment of Hollywood’s Golden Era and was a fan of all the classics. He was a devout Catholic. Far surpassing all, Ron was a family man who considered his most precious gift to be that of his entire family, all who he loved loyally and fiercely.

He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Mary (Stecyk) Wharton; loving father of Ronald K. Wharton, Jr., Claudia (Andreas) Christodoulou, Carrie (Jerry) Lipfeld, Jenifer (Scott) Wharton Wojtowecz and the late Michael (the late Donna) Wharton; caring brother of Douglas (Kathleen) Wharton and the late Richard A.
