Obituary for Michael John Skadra
Dateline – Niskayuna, NY
Michael John Skadra, age 53, of Lori Drive in Niskayuna died on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Ellis Hospital with his loving family at his bedside and the Beatles playing softly in the background. He was born on October 9, 1964 in Niskayuna, NY and was the son of Milton “Skip” and Marie (Pepe) Skadra. Michael was educated at Shenendehowa Central School District and various programs associated with the Center for Disability Services for years after. Although he was severely retarded, Michael crammed in every drop of the essence of LIFE. Not only was he raised and cared for by his own extremely loving and supportive family, but he came to know a larger extended compassionate family throughout his years at the Center for Disability Services. Michael had a friendly demeanor which made people gravitate to him. He was a blessing to all he knew. He was affectionately referred to as “The Mayor” at his programs and among his peers. He absolutely loved music and never let his radio get too far away. He was all about the 50’s and 60’s genre and would cut the rug to the Beatles, Elvis and The Beach Boys.
In addition to being a blessing to his parents, Michael was the much loved brother of Melissa “Sa” (Paul) Reinisch; Uncle of Jacob, Sydney and Cooper Reinisch: Grandson of the late Elizabeth and Henry Skadra and Margaret and John Pepe; Nephew of Carole (the late Joseph) Pepe, John (Linda) Pepe, Robert (Pam) Pepe, Mario (Donna) Pepe, Charles (Anita) Skadra, Carol (Guy) Penny, Gloria (Ron) Frasier, Henry (Linda) Skadra and the late Rev. Gordon Skadra, PhD, Helen Bott and David Skadra. He is also survived by many cousins and extended family.
