Obituary for Clifford Barger

Dateline: Charlton, NY
Clifford Barger, age 87, a long- time resident of Charlton, NY, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2018. He was born on August 23, 1930 in Ilion, NY and was the son of the late Alice (Bacher) and Clifford Barger of Mohawk, NY.

Cliff left high school to join the Navy and later returned to finish his degree. He married Virginia (Nelson) Barger on July 5, 1952 and subsequently had 5 sons Ken, Jeff, Jerry, Jon and Jim.
He pursued a career in drafting and joined the GE Apprentice Program. Eventually he became a talented designer in the turbine department where he enjoyed a fulfilling career.

As an avid outdoorsman, he instilled his life- long love of the outdoors in his sons and remained true to his hunting camp in the Adirondacks until the end.

Cliff is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia “Ginnie” and sons Jim, of Scotia NY and Jerry (Judy Welcome), of Berthoud CO; sisters, Lillian Gaherty of Mohawk, NY and Susan Barger of East Frankfort, NY.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019.

Funeral will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Fort Plain Cemetery, Fort Plain, NY.
