Obituary for Araceli "Celi" Romano

ARACELI VILLANUEVA ROMANO

Araceli (Celi) Villanueva Romano was born to Albino and Felisa Villanueva on April 10, 1945 in Baclaran, Manila, in the Philippines. She spent the early years of her adult life in Manila studying and, eventually, pursuing a career as a Travel Agent. In doing so, she was able to travel and enjoy beautiful places like Germany, Italy and other parts of Europe. A beautiful and radiant young woman, she caught the attention of a dashing young man in Rodolfo Romano. And made it official by declaring their vows in the presence of the Lord in 1971.

She gave birth to their first child and only daughter, Raquel. Raquel was followed by their second child, Ronald and finally, their third child, Ryan. Sadly, the Romanos would suffer the sudden and unexpected loss of their patriarch, Rodolfo, in December of 1982. Facing an uncertain future for her and her children, she decided to immigrate to the United States in 1984. The Romanos would reunite when, in 1989, Celi successfully petitioned her children to join her in New York. She maintained a position as an Executive Administrative Assistant for Peter Corsell, Associates, in New York City, for a number of years until 1998, when she began and completed training as a Nursing Assistant. Her last trip, amazingly, was to the holy land of Israel, in 2017. She enjoyed her new calling and continued providing assistance to the elderly until February 2018. She moved to Scotia, New York with her daughter Raquel in March to finally enjoy her retirement. She greeted her 73rd birthday on April 10 while celebrating it with her grandsons.

Araceli fell ill on the Monday after Mother’s Day. She courageously fought to stay with her family but went on to be with our Lord on June 30, 2018. Araceli Villanueva Romano is survived by her daughter, Raquel, son-in-law, Andre, her son Ronald, daughter-in-law, Kenia, her son Ryan, daughter-in-law, Alpha, grandsons Marcus and Adonis and granddaughters, Keura and baby Azaryah.

In her love, she dedicated herself to no one else but her family and her faith in the Lord. She has left an indelible impression on this Earth, specifically, in the world of her children and grandchildren. She will be missed for her smile, spirit, humor, and, most of all, her love.
