Dateline: Clifton Park, NY
Jane M. Wood, age 61, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Friday, August 17, 2018. She was born on September 13, 1956 in Schenectady, NY and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Beth (Maranville) Hannum. Jane graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School where she spent her Senior year as a foreign exchange student in Argentina under the sponsorship of the Glenville Rotary Club. She went on to Russell Sage College and graduated with her BS in elementary education. Later, she earned double Master’s degrees in reading and Spanish literature at SUNY, Albany.

Jane had a long and rewarding career as an elementary school teacher, working for the Bethlehem Central School District for 20 years and Glenmont Elementary School.

She was married to Daniel Wood and together they raised five wonderful children. Jane was a voracious reader and she loved nothing more than to spend long summer days on the beach with a good book. She also loved camping and she spent the last 20 years vacationing with her family at Blue Shutters in Charlestown, Rhode Island.

Jane’s faith was very important to her and she was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rexford. She served there on many youth leadership organizations and was president of The Stake Young Women’s Organization. Most recently, she served as Nursery Leader.

Jane leaves behind her loving husband Daniel, her beloved children: Hylari Kayes of Sequim, WA, Kristy Reed Snell of St. Petersburg, FL, Amanda (Jeffrey) Jensen of Sequim WA, Jamie (Pat) Venditti of Glenville, NY, Jessica (Jeffrey) Rodgers of South Salt Lake City, UT; her siblings: Jack (Arlene) Maranville, Laurel (Owen Roberts) Hannum, and Becky (Bill) Edward; sixteen wonderful grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two on the way.
She is predeceased by her siblings, the late John Hannum and Alice Hannum.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 9:00 AM- 10:30 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 52 Blue Barns Road, Rexford, NY 12148.
Funeral will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the church.
Interment will be in Chuctanunda Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Missionary Fund.
